The Chicagoland area is one of the best places to railfan in North America with over six class I railroads being Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, BNSF Railway, CSX, Canadian Pacific Kansas City and Canadian National. The area also has three passenger railroads being Intercity passenger railroad Amtrak and two commuter railroads being Metra and the South Shore Line.
